Choose on capacity, because that is where the two models differ most. The 35 cl tumbler is meant for whisky on ice, an aged jenever or a small glass of soft drink; it is low, wide and sits heavy in the hand. The 47 cl long drink glass has plenty of headroom, so you can fit six ice cubes and still add a good thirty centilitres of drink. If you work with fixed measures behind the bar, that headroom is exactly what you want, because you never pour to the rim. For home use 47 cl is on the generous side. Take the tumbler as your basic glass in that case and add to the range later. For more sizes, look at the long drink glasses.

Fill the tumbler with one large block of ice rather than four small cubes, because a single block melts more slowly and dilutes your drink less. In the long drink glass you build from the bottom up: ice first, then the spirit, then the mixer, and only then stir. A cuba libre or a moscow mule fills the 47 cl comfortably without the glass running over. A long bar spoon reaches the bottom of the glass without any effort.

Onis supplies Anchor in tempered catering glass. Tempering makes the surface better able to take stress, so the rim chips less readily when a full basket is unloaded. Even so, glass remains breakable. Stand the glasses apart in the dishwasher and never stack them inside one another. If you see a crack running along the rim, take the glass out of circulation rather than keep using it.
