NUDE Glass Primeur

A primeur is a wine drunk shortly after the harvest—young and fresh, without years of aging in between. The series named after it does exactly what such wines need: a narrow bowl that preserves their freshness instead of letting it dissipate immediately.

NUDE Glass uses lead-free crystal and draws the stem from the bowl in a single motion. This means there is no seam at the joint, making the glass strongest precisely at its most vulnerable point.

Four bowls and a liqueur glass

The size decides which wine belongs in it. The 26 cl is a small glass for young white wine or an aperitif, the 32 cl is the wider white wine size, and the 42.5 cl is the all-rounder in which a light red also looks right at home. The 60 cl burgundy bowl is round and wide, meant for pinot noir and other wines that live off their aroma.

There is also a 10 cl liqueur glass, which comes into play after dinner for grappa, limoncello or a sweet dessert wine.

Pour, swirl, taste

Fill a wine glass to about a third and no further. The empty space above it is not waste but the place where the aroma gathers. Then swirl a few times so the wine runs up the wall and exposes more surface to the air, and only then smell. With the 60 cl burgundy bowl you notice that effect most clearly. The 10 cl liqueur glass, on the other hand, you fill almost to the top, because a sgroppino or a cold limoncello should come to the table ice cold and be drunk quickly.

Thin crystal that still goes in the dishwasher

Lead-free crystal is thin but can go in the dishwasher without trouble, provided you choose a short programme and keep the bowls apart. Stems tapping against each other are the main cause of breakage, not the water or the temperature. Polish afterwards with a lint-free cloth while the glasses are still warm, so the remaining water evaporates without limescale traces. Store them upright and put nothing on top of them.

Not found what you were looking for?

If you would rather search by shape than by series, the white wine glasses and the red wine glasses are sorted by bowl size. The little 10 cl glass turns up again among the liqueur glasses and the limoncello glasses. The other series from this brand are at NUDE Glass. If you serve a bottle at the table, the carafes are the obvious companion. For an aperitif with bubbles, have a look at the recipe for the aperol spritz.
