NUDE Glass Rifine

The 44 cl glass is the all-rounder. Spacious enough for red wine, but not so wide that white wine loses its freshness. Those who mainly drink full-bodied red wine should choose the 61 cl glass: its extra width gives the wine more contact with air, making firm tannins feel softer after a few minutes.

The 20 cl champagne glass is a narrow flute. This shape keeps the bubbles for longer than a coupe because the surface area through which the carbon dioxide can escape is smaller. If you prefer more aroma and fewer bubbles, a tulip-shaped glass from the champagne glasses the rest of the brand is listed under the NUDE Glass glasses.

Fill a wine glass to its widest point and no higher, about one-third full for the 44 cl glass and less for the 61 cl glass. With the champagne flute, pour in two stages: first, pour a small amount down the side so the foam can settle, then top it up to well over halfway.

Serve champagne at around 8 degrees, and the glass does not need to be chilled beforehand. For a mimosa mix equal parts orange juice and sparkling wine directly in the flute, without stirring. A kir royal starts with a small amount of crème de cassis, over which you slowly pour the sparkling wine.

Lead-free crystal glass gets its clarity and strength from added oxides instead of lead. That allows the wall to stay thinner without the glass breaking straight away, and you notice it at the rim: it almost disappears against your lip. That is also exactly where the vulnerability lies.

Wash on a short glassware programme or by hand in lukewarm water, and do not let the glasses touch each other. Store them upright so the rim rests on nothing, and polish with a lint-free cloth to prevent limescale marks.
