Together the five shapes cover a whole evening. The 24.5 cl champagne glass is a slim flute that holds on to the bubbles. The 42.5 cl wine glass is the all-rounder for white and light red wine, while the 57 cl is the big brother in which a full-bodied red gets enough surface to take up air.

Alongside those stand a 40 cl tumbler and a 48 cl long drink glass. Those two stand out for their size: 40 cl is generous for whisky, but the idea is that a substantial block of ice goes in and that you give the drink room.

Never pour wine beyond a third full, however large the bowl. The empty part above the wine is where the aroma gathers, and without that space you smell almost nothing. Hold the glass by the stem. The 40 cl tumbler is made for an old fashioned or whisky with one large block, and the 48 cl long drink glass has room for a gin and tonic with ice all the way to the top. Chill the champagne flute beforehand, because in a warm glass the bubbles are gone within a minute.

Mouth-blown crystal is thin, and it stays that way in the dishwasher. The series can go in, but choose a short programme at a low temperature and do not let the bowls touch each other. To keep the glass really clear, rinse afterwards with hot water and polish with a lint-free cloth while the glass is still warm, because then the water evaporates without leaving a limescale ring.
