Schott Zwiesel Bar Special

First consider which drink you are serving. For whisky, you can choose between the 22 cl and 32 cl nosing glasses: the tulip shape directs the aromas toward your nose, while the larger size provides more air for heavily peated whisky. If you want to add ice, choose the 40 cl Dancing tumbler. Cognac goes in the 77.4 or 88 cl XXL balloon glass, where the vapors have room to develop. Grappa calls for a narrow glass of 6.4, 9.5, or 11 cl, while sherry calls for the 12 cl glass. For gin and tonic, there is the 70 cl copa, and the 34 cl water glass has a measurement mark. Feel free to compare with the whisky glasses and the grappa glasses.

You should not fill a nosing glass beyond its widest point: above that, the air remains in which the aromas collect. Cognac does not need to be warmed; holding the balloon does that naturally. Serve grappa slightly chilled and in a small quantity so that the alcohol does not overpower. In the 70 cl copa, first add ice, then gin, then tonic down a spoon so the carbonation stays in. Classics such as the dry martini and the old fashioned both find their form here.

Bar Special is made from Tritan, the crystal glass from Schott Zwiesel with titanium and zirconium added. That makes the rim and the stem noticeably less prone to breaking and keeps the glass clear, even when it goes through the machine day after day. The glasses are dishwasher-safe and are slower to go dull in hard water. Place them apart from each other in the rack and dry the stem afterwards with a clean cloth.

If you're looking for another series from the same brand, you'll find the full range at Schott Zwiesel. Note that Zwiesel Glas is a separate brand with its own range. If you only want the copa for gin, take a look at the gin and tonic glasses. For stirring and measuring behind the bar, you'll find the tools among the bar spoons, so your bar is complete with both glassware and tools.
