Schott Zwiesel Beer Basic

The series works with two capacities: 30 cl for most of the range and 50 cl for the large wheat beer glass. The lager glass is narrow and straight-sided, which keeps the fizz in the beer for longer. The craft glass has a tulip shape with a tapered neck that directs the aroma towards your nose and makes the hops far more pronounced. The stout glass widens slightly towards the top, which suits a beer that carries its flavour in the creaminess. For wheat beer you choose between the small 30 cl glass and the classic tall 50 cl glass. Everything is supplied in packs of four or six.

Hold the glass at an angle of about forty-five degrees and let the beer run down the wall until you reach the measuring line. Then bring the glass upright and pour the last centimetres freely so the head builds up. Wheat beer is poured more slowly and with more foam, lager in a single movement. Do not skim the foam off with a spatula if you have rinsed the glass properly first, because then there is no need. Take a look at the speciality beer glasses as well.

Beer Basic is made of Tritan crystal glass, which stays clear after thousands of dishwasher cycles and whose rim does not chip easily. What matters more for beer is what happens after the dishwasher: every trace of grease flattens the head. So do not dry the glasses with a cloth that has been over plates beforehand, and rinse them just before pouring with a glass rinser. Store them upright, not upside down on a wooden shelf.
