Start with whatever gets poured most often. The 37 cl wine glass is the everyday size for white and rose, while the 53 cl glass gives red wine room to breathe. For beer there is a 38 cl glass, big enough for a bottle of craft beer in one go.

The 75 cl gin and tonic copa is the most striking of the five. All that space is not for show: you fill a copa completely with ice first, and only then add the gin and tonic. The 45 cl long drink glass is the quieter alternative for mixed drinks without garnish.

With the 75 cl copa the order decides the taste. Ice to the top first, then the gin, then the tonic poured down the curved wall. Do not stir, or you lose the fizz; tilt the glass once and add the garnish only afterwards. That way the gin and tonic keeps its bubbles to the last sip.

The same glass works for an aperol spritz, as long as you really do fill it with ice. Pour the 38 cl beer glass at an angle and straighten it up once there is a finger-thick head of foam.

All five glasses are soda-lime glass and go straight into the dishwasher. The foot is deliberately thick, which makes the glasses steadier on a garden table than a slender stem.

With the copa, watch the rim: it is wide and sticks out easily in a full rack. Put it on its own or in the top drawer.
