La Rochere Lily

All four versions are the same 25 cl tumbler, so the choice here is purely about color. A set of six in one shade creates a calm look on the table; four sets of six in four shades create the relaxed, collected look that brocante is known for. The latter also has a practical advantage: everyone recognizes their own glass, so fewer half-full glasses are left standing around. The 25 cl size is spacious enough for water with ice, juice, or a stemless aperitif. If you want the same size in clear glass, take a look at the water glasses or the wider tumbler glasses.

A stemless tumbler is the long-table glass: water with meals, iced tea in summer, juice at breakfast. The textured surface provides a good grip, even with wet hands, making the Lily suitable for outdoor use. For an aperitif in the garden, a Hugo spritz with plenty of ice and mint works well in this size. An Aperol spritz works too, although the classic serving glass is a stemmed balloon glass.

Persglas is thick and solid, which makes the Lily less fragile than thin-walled glass with the same capacity. The series is dishwasher-safe. The color is integrated into the glass itself rather than applied as a coating, so it will not wash off or fade. However, watch out for limescale: with hard water and no rinse aid, deposits can remain visibly trapped in the relief. A glass brush reaches into the corners that a sponge cannot.

The rest of the French selection, from heraldic motifs to bee patterns, can be found at La Rochère. If you're looking for glassware with the same old-fashioned appearance from other makers, take a look at the vintage glasses. And for hot drinks in this same style, there are the tea glasses. If you want to carry the colors through to the rest of the table, there are jugs and bowls in similar pressed glass that follow the motif without making the overall look too busy.
