Rémy Martin Louis XIII
Rémy Martin’s flagship: eaux-de-vie aged forty to one hundred years, exclusively from Grande Champagne. A cognac to taste once in your life, ideally in the best glass you own.

A century of cognac in one decanter
Louis XIII is Rémy Martin’s top cognac, named after French King Louis XIII. While the house’s other bottles are Fine Champagne, the grapes for Louis XIII come exclusively from Grande Champagne, the region’s finest cru. The blend consists of up to 1200 eaux-de-vie aged forty to one hundred years.
That makes this a very different cognac from the XO, which uses eaux-de-vie aged 10 to 37 years. Louis XIII comes in a hand-blown Baccarat crystal decanter, with a fleur-de-lis-shaped stopper. Each decanter is numbered and unique.
At a glance
Velvety smooth and endlessly long
Deep and layered
A deep, rich nose that continues to unfold in the glass. Take your time: after fifteen minutes, you’ll smell different things than you did in the first minute.
Velvety smooth
Exceptionally complex and deliciously smooth, with a velvety texture. Decades in oak, without the wood taking over.
Up to an hour
The finish is the most famous part: it can linger in the mouth for up to an hour.
The flavor profile of Louis XIII neat at room temperature. A little, and plenty of time.
A ritual, not a tipple
Louis XIII is enjoyed neat, without ice or water, in small amounts. The decanter is part of the experience.
A small pour
Pour no more than 20 ml into a crystal tulip glass. You don't need more: the aromas are so intense that a little fills the whole glass.
Cognac glasses →Take your time
Let the glass sit for fifteen minutes, and smell it in between. Sip in very small amounts and wait after each sip. See how long the finish lasts.
Tasting glasses →Alongside a younger cognac
Taste it alongside a Rémy Martin XO or VSOP, in identical glasses. The difference in length and depth shows what decades of extra aging can do.
Rémy Martin XO →No cocktails, just the house classics
You don't mix Louis XIII. If you want cognac in a cocktail, use the VSOP or the Tercet. These are the classics to make with them.

Sidecar
Cognac, Cointreau, and lemon. Make it with the VSOP or the fruity Tercet.
Sazerac
Cognac, sugar, Peychaud's bitters, and a rinse of absinthe. Strong and aromatic.
Champagne Cocktail
Sugar cube, bitters, a splash of cognac, and champagne. For a festive occasion.
Christmas cocktails
Festive, warming cocktails for December, with and without cognac.More flavors from Rémy Martin
