Winter Spritz
the Christmas recipe that always works
Mix the cranberry juice, cinnamon syrup and lime juice - you can make this part days in advance and store it chilled.
Pour the mixture into a chilled champagne glass.
Top up gently with ice-cold prosecco; pouring along the inside of the glass keeps the bubbles intact.
Garnish with a sprig of rosemary and three cranberries that sink to the bottom.
Batching: eight cocktails at once
The only way to sit at the table yourself at Christmas is to mix in advance. The rule is simple: anything that contains no bubbles and does not need to dilute can be bottled. Mix the spirits, syrup and juices in the recipe's proportions multiplied by eight, pour it into a sealed bottle and put it in the refrigerator - you can do this three days in advance. When serving, just add ice, bubbles and garnish. One exception: fresh citrus loses its freshness within a day, so squeeze it on the day itself. Allow for one and a half cocktails per guest for the aperitif and keep one alcohol-free option on hand.
The right glass
At Christmas, you mainly serve sparkling drinks, so choosing the right glass is a real consideration. A flute preserves the carbonation the longest - useful if the glass remains in someone's hand for an hour. A coupe releases more aroma and looks more festive on the table, but your bubbles disappear faster. For Christmas, we choose the 16 to 20 cl flute, large enough for a spritz with garnish. Chill the glasses for half an hour before you start; with a full table, you won't have time later.

The right tools
For a Christmas cocktail, alongside the glass, use a shaker, a bar spoon for stirring, and a jigger for precise measuring. These are the bar tools we use ourselves; you can find everything in our bar tools & cocktail sets.

Frequently asked questions
Which glass do you use for Christmas cocktails?
For anything with bubbles, use a 16 to 22 cl flute or coupe. View our champagne glasses. For hot cocktails, see the Irish coffee glasses.
How many cocktails do you count per guest?
One and a half for the aperitif, two to three over an entire evening. Make sure at least one-third of your selection is alcohol-free - that avoids hassle and no one feels left out.
Can you make cocktails in advance?
Yes, anything without bubbles or ice. Mix the drink, syrup, and juices up to three days ahead in a bottle and keep chilled. Squeeze fresh citrus on the day itself.
Which flavors belong at Christmas?
Cinnamon, clove, star anise, cranberry, orange, pomegranate, and ginger. A simple cinnamon syrup — sugar, water, and two cinnamon sticks, steeped for ten minutes — turns almost any cocktail into a Christmas cocktail.
