This sommelier corkscrew from Bar Professional is the classic waiter’s corkscrew in a blue finish. Its single foldable stainless-steel body contains a foil cutter, a spiral, and a lever with a crown-cap opener. It is designed for hosts and serving staff who need to be able to open a bottle throughout their shift without having to search for a corkscrew.
How to open a bottle with it
First, cut through the capsule just below the rim of the bottle with the serrated blade, so the wine does not run along the foil. Then place the tip of the spiral slightly off-center in the cork and twist it in straight, until the last turn is still just visible. Place the first lever point on the bottle neck and lift the cork halfway out; use the second point to remove it completely in one smooth motion. Choosing and maintaining it
The blue finish stands out among the black and silver tools behind the bar, which is useful when several corkscrews are in circulation: you can immediately see which one is yours. Otherwise, it is identical to the other models in the corkscrews range. Wash the corkscrew by hand and dry it immediately, because moisture left between the hinges will eventually make it stiff to open. If you work with wine often, pair it with a wine stopper for bottles that remain open at the end of the shift.
