Jameson Caskmates Stout Edition
Whiskey and beer in one glass, but subtly. The familiar Jameson is finished in casks that previously held Irish stout, picking up cocoa, coffee, butterscotch and a touch of hops. Perfect for a cold evening or in an Irish coffee.

A swap between distiller and brewer
Caskmates began with a swap in Cork: a brewery aged its stout in Jameson casks, then sent them back to Midleton. There, the regular triple-distilled Jameson gets a secondary maturation. The beer has left a dark, mellow flavor in the wood that the whiskey takes on.
So you won’t taste beer, but you will taste traces of it: cocoa, coffee and butterscotch, a touch of hops, with marzipan and oak underneath. The base remains the Jameson blend of pot still whiskey and grain whiskey, at 40%. While the IPA Edition is fresh and hoppy, the Stout Edition is dark and rounded: a whiskey for after dinner, by the fireplace or alongside a glass of stout.
In brief
Dark, rounded and slightly sweet
Coffee and cocoa
Roasted coffee and cocoa sit atop the familiar smooth Jameson, with a touch of marzipan.
Butterscotch
Smooth and full-bodied, with butterscotch and chocolate. The stout casks add body without making the whiskey heavy.
Oak and chocolate
A medium-length finish with oak, a final hint of dark chocolate and a touch of the beer’s hops.
Tasting notes for Caskmates Stout Edition neat. The cocoa and butterscotch stand out even more in hot coffee.
Three ways to serve Caskmates Stout
This whiskey is made for the darker half of the year: neat, in coffee, or simply alongside a beer.
Neat, alongside a stout
Pour 30 ml Caskmates Stout into a tumbler and pour a glass of stout alongside it. Alternate sips: the coffee and cocoa notes in both bring each other out.
Tumblers →Stout Irish coffee
40 ml Caskmates Stout and 2 teaspoons of brown sugar in 120 ml hot coffee, topped with lightly whipped cream. The stout barrels make it more chocolatey than the original.

30 ml in a tasting glass with a few drops of cool water. This opens up the marzipan and butterscotch and takes the last edge off the alcohol.

The coffee and cocoa notes from the stout barrels are perfect for hot drinks and sweet, nutty cocktails.

Irish coffee
Hot coffee, whiskey, brown sugar, and cream. Extra dark and chocolatey with Caskmates Stout.
Godfather
Whiskey and amaretto over ice. The marzipan in the whiskey pairs beautifully with the almond.
Hot Toddy
