Chivas Regal Extra 13 Oloroso Sherry Cask
Chivas with a sherry character. Aged for thirteen years and finished in first-fill oloroso casks, creating a rich blend with dried fruit, pear, vanilla, cinnamon and almond. Fuller than the 12, and still an easy whisky to mix.

What do those oloroso casks do?
Oloroso is a dry, dark sherry. Casks that have held this sherry give whisky a rich, nutty and slightly spicy character. Extra 13 is finished in first-fill casks: casks filled with whisky for the first time after holding sherry. These casks still have the most sherry in the wood, so its influence is clear in the taste.
The whisky itself is a Chivas blend of malt and grain whiskies, aged for at least thirteen years and bottled at 40%. The result is richer and sweeter than the 12, but also very easy to drink: dried fruit, pear and vanilla up front, with cinnamon and almond behind. It sits between the fresh 12 Years and the heavier 18 Years.

Three ways to serve Extra 13
Sipped neat or with water, the sherry casks shine best. But Extra 13 is also a great whisky for a bold cocktail.
Neat with a splash of water
Pour 30 ml into a tasting glass, then add a teaspoon of cool water. The water opens up the pear and vanilla and softens the cinnamon.
