Casamigos Mezcal
Casamigos’ smoky outlier: artisanal mezcal made from espadín agave from Santiago Matatlán in Oaxaca. Herbs, fruit, smoke and black pepper, with a long, silky-smooth finish. A discovery on its own, unforgettable in a Negroni or Spicy Margarita.

Where the smoke comes from
Casamigos Mezcal is made from 100% espadín agave, which grows for eight to nine years in Oaxaca. After harvesting, the agave hearts are split and cooked for four to six days in earthen pits with hot volcanic rocks. The juice then ferments for two to eight days and is distilled twice in copper stills. This takes place in Santiago Matatlán, the village known as the heart of mezcal.
Cooking in the ground is precisely what sets it apart from Casamigos tequilas. While the Blanco, Reposado and Añejo are made from blue agave in Jalisco and are smooth and sweet, the Mezcal has distinct smoky notes, spice and black pepper. It’s not tequila with a smoky flavor, but a unique agave distillate with its own origins.
In brief
Smoke, herbs and black pepper
Herbs and fruit
Aromatic herbs and fruit, with hints of smoke that intensify as the glass sits for a while.
Smoke and pepper
Notes of smoke and black pepper, carried by sweet cooked agave.
Long and silky-smooth
A long, silky finish. The smoke lingers, but without any harshness.
The flavor profile of Casamigos Mezcal neat. In a cocktail, what comes through most is the smoke, even in small amounts.
How to drink mezcal
Drink Mezcal in small sips. The smoke is intense, so a little goes a long way, including in cocktails.
Neat, in small sips
3 cl at room temperature in a small, wide glass. Take a very small sip, hold it in your mouth for a moment, then breathe out through your nose. That brings out the fruit and herbs behind the smoke.
