Flavoured vodka with blood orange · Berlin

Puschkin Red

Puschkin's red bottle: vodka with the bittersweet taste of blood orange, at 17.5% ABV. Not a strong vodka and not a syrupy liqueur, but an ice-cold shot that's just as easily enjoyed as a refreshing long drink.

What is Puschkin Red?

Blood orange with a vodka heart

Puschkin Red combines the strength of Puschkin vodka with the bittersweet taste of red blood oranges. The vodka itself is distilled three times and filtered several times, with a final filtration over ice that goes back to an old Russian tradition. Water, glucose-fructose syrup, fruit juice concentrate, natural flavourings and citric acid are added.

The result is a 17.5% ABV drink: about half the strength of regular vodka. To be honest, this isn't a bottle to sip slowly. Puschkin Red is made for partying: ice-cold as a shot, or topped up with sparkling water, tonic or orange juice as a long drink. The hint of bitterness from the blood orange keeps the sweetness in check.

What does Puschkin Red taste like?

Sweet orange with a bitter edge

Nose

Red citrus fruit

Ripe orange and the slightly deeper, berry-like aroma of blood orange. You only smell the vodka in the background.

Palate

Sweet and bittersweet

First juicy and sweet, then a lightly bitter peel note like the one you know from blood orange. Served ice-cold, it tastes fuller and less sweet.

Finish

Fresh and short

A short finish with a touch of bitterness and a warm hint of vodka. Calls for sparkling water or a second shot.

How to drink it

How to pour Puschkin Red

Put the bottle in the freezer for a few hours. Its low alcohol content makes it thick and syrupy there, which rounds out the flavor.

Ice-cold shot

2 cl Puschkin Red, straight from the freezer into a chilled shot glass. Drink it in one go: first sweet orange, then a touch of bitterness.
