Laphroaig Lore
A blend of whiskies aged seven to twenty-one years, including whiskies from oloroso sherry casks and quarter casks. Rich, smoky, and spicy: dark chocolate on the nose, a chili bite on the tongue, and an almost endless finish.
Young and old Laphroaig in one bottle
Laphroaig Lore isn't a whisky of a single age, but a blend of Laphroaig whiskies aged 7 to 21 years. They were matured in five different types of casks, including oloroso sherry casks and the small quarter casks also used for Quarter Cask. The young whiskies bring fire and smoke, while the older ones add depth and sweetness.
The result is described as wonderfully rich, smoky, and spicy. While the 10 Years revolves around iodine and seaweed, Lore leans more toward dark chocolate, vanilla, and ash, followed by powerful peat smoke with a spicy bite. At 48% ABV, it can take a drop of water, which brings out notes of rich cream and green citrus fruit.

How to taste Laphroaig Lore
Lore is a bottle to explore slowly. Taste it neat first, then with water, ideally with a second glass of Laphroaig alongside for comparison.

30 ml in a tulip-shaped tasting glass. Taste it neat for the chocolate and chili bite, then add a few drops of water and look for cream and green citrus fruit.

Pour 15 ml of Lore and 15 ml of Laphroaig 10 Years into two identical glasses. This lets you taste at a glance what the older whiskies and oloroso sherry casks add to the house character.
About the 10 Years →As a smoky rinse
Rinse a chilled glass with 5 ml of Lore and discard the excess, then pour in a Sazerac or Old Fashioned. A few drops give the whole cocktail an aroma of chocolate and smoke.
