Zwiesel Glas Tone

Start with what you make most often. For stirred classics, reach for the 18.2 cl martini glass or the 17.2 cl Nick & Nora glass, which looks smaller and is less likely to slosh because the bowl curves inwards. The cocktail coupe comes in 17 cl and 24.6 cl, both with an effervescence point in the base, which also makes them suitable for sparkling wine. For drinks on ice there are two all-round tumblers of 24.5 cl and 39 cl and a 31.4 cl whisky glass with a heavy base. The 51.3 cl longdrink glass is the tallest in the series, and the 13.3 cl sake and liqueur glass the smallest. More shapes are with the cocktail glasses.

A Dry Martini belongs in the martini glass or, if you prefer to serve it a little smaller, in the Nick & Nora glass. A shaken Daiquiri goes in the coupe, where the wide bowl lets the citrus aroma rise. Whisky over one large ice cube is poured into the 31.4 cl glass, whose heavy base keeps it steady. The all-round tumblers are the workhorses for water, soft drinks and everything on ice. The longdrink glass is meant for drinks you top up with tonic or soda.

Tone is made of Tritan crystal glass, to which Zwiesel Glas adds titanium and zirconium. That makes the thin rim a good deal less fragile than it looks and the glass able to take the dishwasher, even with daily use. Place the coupes and martini glasses apart in the rack, because bowls that knock against one another will break all the same. Let them dry standing up and polish them with a glass cloth while the glass is still lukewarm, and no drying marks will be left behind.
