Work from large to small. The 76.8 cl bordeaux glass has a tall, wide bowl that gives a full-bodied red wine room without you pouring it too full. The 61.3 cl universal wine glass is the all-rounder for both red and fuller white wine, handy if you only want to put out one size.

The 46 cl white wine glass has a narrower bowl that keeps the wine cooler and gathers the fresh aromas. The 23.8 cl champagne glass is a flute: narrow and tall, and therefore the glass in which the bubbles last longest. If you want to lay a complete table, take the 61.3 and the 23.8 as your base.

Pour up to the widest point of the bowl, about a third. That seems little, but it is precisely the empty space above that catches the aroma and gives you room to swirl the wine. Hold the glass by the stem; a hand around the bowl warms the wine within a few minutes.

With the flute you pour in two goes, so the foam can settle in between and the glass does not overflow. A kir royal or a mimosa goes in that same glass.

Tritan is the crystal glass from Schott Zwiesel in which titanium and zirconium are used instead of lead. That makes the glass harder, so it stands up better to scratches and to chipping at the rim.

Dishwasher-safe in the long run too: where lead crystal turns dull after a run of wash cycles, this stays clear. Do place the glasses upright and don't let them touch each other.
