Bormioli Rocco Executive

Executive is essentially a beer glass series with a wine glass included. Four beer glasses ranging from 26 to 52 cl, straight-sided and with a thick base, plus a 29 cl goblet for those who also serve wine at the same table. Bormioli Rocco makes them in Italy.

The model with a marking at 39 cl is intended for establishments that must pour precise amounts and can be inspected accordingly. Without the marking, you can buy the same glass for home, where no one measures to the milliliter.

Which size for which beer

Choose the size to match what you are pouring. At 26 cl you serve a small specialty beer, exactly enough for a strong beer you do not want half a litre of. The 39 cl is the workhorse: a regular pilsner or a blond beer fits in it head and all. The 52 cl is for wheat beer and for beers served with a generous head, because those need three to four centimetres of air above the liquid. If you are torn between two sizes, take the larger one, because pouring with room to spare is always possible and an overfilled glass is not.

Pouring a proper head

Hold the glass at an angle and pour the beer against the wall until it is half full, then set it upright and pour the rest into the middle to build the head. A wet glass foams more neatly than a bone-dry one, so rinse it first. The 29 cl goblet is meant for white wine, but it also works well alongside a kopstoot, where the jenever stands separate from the beer. You will find more combinations to try over at the cocktails.

Washing grease-free

Beer glasses need to be completely free of grease, and that is not a detail: a thin film of fat flattens a head within half a minute. Wash them separately from greasy plates or give them their own rinse. Every model is dishwasher safe. Use little to no rinse aid if you pour a lot of beer, because it leaves behind exactly the kind of film that ruins the head.

More to explore in this range

Looking for other shapes for specialty beer, with a belly or a tulip shape, then have a look at the specialty beer glasses or at the wider range of beer glasses. Round out the wine side with the white wine glasses. The rest of this brand is gathered together under Bormioli Rocco. If you handle a lot of glasses at once, glass crates make storing them and transporting them to a venue much easier.
