Onis Spksy

Choose based on what goes into the glass. The 24.5 cl coupe is the wide, shallow bowl for cocktails without ice: a daiquiri, a sidecar, or a classic champagne serve. The 19 cl martini glass is narrower and calls for a smaller pour, which is precisely the intention for strong mixed drinks. The 58 cl gin and tonic glass has room for plenty of ice, a generous splash of tonic, and garnishes that do not get cramped. The 26 cl wine glass is a compact bowl for house wine, and the 17.5 cl flute keeps bubbles fizzing for longer. Alongside this series are the champagne coupe glasses and the gin and tonic glasses.

Pour a coupe to about one centimeter below the rim, because its wide opening leaves no room for a full pour when serving. Chill the glass beforehand with ice and water, empty it, and only then pour: a chilled glass keeps a dry martini at the right temperature for minutes without needing ice. First fill the gin and tonic glass to the rim with ice, then add the gin, followed by the tonic down the side of a spoon so the carbonation stays in. For the flute, the french 75 is the classic choice.

Hospitality glass from Onis is made for glasswashers that run dozens of times an evening, and the Spksy is no exception. Wash on a short programme with soft water, because limescale settles visibly in the facets of cut glass. Stand stemmed bowls upright in a rack with holders and let them drain upside down on a grid rather than on a cloth.

If you only want the conical bowl without the rest of the series, take a look at the martini glasses. The brand's full range is available under Onis. And to make the drink itself, you need tools: cocktail shakers for shaking and jiggers for precise measuring. If you're looking for the same vintage atmosphere in a different visual language, there are series with cut glass and ridges that evoke the same period without the facets of the Spksy.
