Luigi Bormioli Mixology

Start with the drink you make most often. For gin and tonic, use the 80 cl Spanish copa: it leaves room for a generous amount of ice, so the ice melts more slowly and the tonic stays fizzy longer. Stirred classics go in the 38 cl D.O.F. tumbler, low and heavy so a large ice cube can stand upright in it. Drinks served without ice go in the 21.5 cl martini glass or the 30 cl coupe. Pour long drinks into the 48 cl highball, spritz into the 57 cl goblet, and a shot into the 7 cl shot glass. If you want to compare the shapes side by side, see the cocktail glasses and the gin and tonic glasses.

First fill a tumbler with ice and only then pour, so the glass cools as well and the drink becomes less diluted. For the copa, use large cubes instead of crushed ice; they melt more slowly and keep the garnish upright. Fill a shot glass to just below the rim, and a coupe to about two-thirds full so you can pick it up without spilling. The proportions of a negroni or an espresso martini are exactly right for these measurements. Use the 75 cl carafe for whisky or for a cocktail you mix in advance.

Mixology is made from SON.hyx, the lead-free crystal glass from Luigi Bormioli whose rim and stem are additionally tempered. That lets the glass be thinner and clearer than ordinary soda-lime glass without breaking the moment you clear the table. The glasses are dishwasher safe and keep their shine even after hundreds of cycles. Stand them upright in the rack, keep the bowls from touching and rinse off citrus residue quickly.

If you want to see the entire brand range before choosing a series, take a look at Luigi Bormioli, which also includes Bach, Diamante, and Optima. If you are looking for individual shapes instead of a complete series, you can find them among the martini glasses. And if your glassware needs tools, the cocktail shakers and jiggers complete your bar. That way, you know exactly where to look next.
