Lehmann’s Grand Blanc wine glass is made of crystal glass, has a 54 cl bowl, and measures 21.3 cm in height. Despite its name, the glass works for both white and red wine. Supplied in sets of six, it is intended for restaurants that serve wine by the glass.
What you can do with 54 centiliters
A 54 cl bowl provides enough room to pour a 12.5 or 15 cl glass and still swirl the wine afterward. With white wine, this means pouring a small amount while the rest stays chilled in the bottle, yet the guest still gets a full aroma development. With red wine, the space above the liquid does the work of a decanter on a small scale. If you want to open up a young red wine further before it goes into the glass, use one of the decanters.
Washing and storing crystal
Crystal glass is dishwasher-safe but benefits from a short cycle and soft water; limescale builds up on it more quickly than on ordinary glass. Remove the glasses as soon as the cycle is finished and polish the bowl with a linen cloth while it is still warm. Store the glasses upright on the foot, not on the rim, and keep the bowls separate in one of the glass racks. For the inside and the stem, a glass brush works better than a cloth.
