Brass stamping tray measuring 20 by 10 centimeters that melts a relief into an ice block. You heat the tray, press it onto the ice, and the pattern is cleanly impressed. Intended for bars and hotels that want to see their logo or a motif in the serving presentation.
How stamping works
Brass retains heat for a long time and releases it evenly, allowing the pattern to sink into the ice in a single motion instead of melting away unevenly. Heat the tray with a gas torch or on a heat source until it is clearly warm, dry it, and then place it with light pressure on a flat ice block. After a few seconds, lift it straight up. It works best on clear ice with a flat top; for this, see the ice cube molds.
Method and maintenance
Heat the tray evenly and no longer than necessary; metal that is too hot will make the edges of the relief blurry. Place the ice block on a cloth so it remains stable and does not slide away. Press straight down and do not twist, otherwise the pattern will run. Then let the tray cool on a heat-resistant surface before touching it. Polish the brass by hand with a soft cloth; do not leave it standing in water or put it in the dishwasher. Pick up the stamped ice with an ice tong.
